Happy Birthday Avery!!! (Be sure to read all the way to bottom for a crazy surpise)

Happy 4th Birthday Avery!!

Since Papa had to leave before Avery's actual birthday, she got to open a couple of gifts early.  She LOVED the Barbies!!

We had to wake up Avery on her birthday and she was dead asleep.  :)

At what age do we grow out of sleeping like this?  Ha!
Happy Birthday Sleeping Beauty!

We bought Avery this cool Plasma car that she loves to play with at our friend's house.  She loves to drive it all around the house.

Avery was lucky to have a gift from Nana delivered by Papa just in time for her birthday!

PONIES!  I love PONIES!!

After school, Avery played at the park with her friend Tillie and her other new horse from Nana.

That evening, Avery got to open her gifts from Bobby and I.  She absolutely loves them!

Fairies and Unicorns!

What could this be??
A house for the fairies!
After assembly, it is super cute!  She loves it!
The final gift of the night was a necklace from Nana that Avery found when she opened the card.  What a fun surprise!

Avery's birthday party was the following day.  She shared a Princess and Pirate party with her friend Lilly whose 5th birthday is 2 days after Avery's.  We had the party at the soccer field in the compound complete with bounce houses and all sorts of "princess" activities.  We used all the older kids in the compound to run the activities.  Natalie made all the signs for the party.  She did a fantastic job with the few supplies we were able to find here.

AND NOW.....

Avery's friend Nora wasn't able to come to the party because she had a cousin's birthday party to go to at the same time.  We received a call at the end of the party saying someone wanted to deliver a gift to Avery from Sheikha Nora (the granddaughter of the Emir).  I met them at the compound gate and was shocked to see the size of the box.

What could this be???
A little help from Natalie and Chase

We were all shocked at the enormity and generosity of this gift!  Avery was so excited!
WHAT?!!!
Needless to say,  Avery was thrilled with this gift from her friend
Assembly began immediately
After a night of charging the battery, here she is!!

Many thanks to Nora for this awesome gift!  Avery is so happy!

Falcons and Arabians

We went back to the Souq Waqif to show Papa around.  We also picked up Nicole, Buddy's wife who is visiting here.  When we arrived in the parking lot, we saw all the camels being ridden back into their spot after their morning walk along the waterfront.

After the camels, we headed over to the falcon souq.  We got really lucky and a man let us hold one of the falcons.

The Falcon man

We also walked around and found the arabian horses that belong to the Emir.  They were very calm and sweet.  One of the horse keepers was very nice and told us all about each horse and let us sit in the relaxing area of the horse corral.  It was cool.

I also took a couple of pictures of the cute animals in the pet section of the Souq.

Papa Fishing in Doha and Al Khor

If you know my dad at all, you know that he LOVES to fish and will find a way to try out fishing anywhere in the world.  I took him to the Corniche and up to a city called Al Khor to see what he could catch.  In the end, he only caught a few, but he had fun while doing it!

Brian Arrives in Qatar!

Brian and Bobby came over from the USA together 2 nights ago.  We are so excited to have Brian here with us!  He is staying with us for a couple of nights while his apartment is getting ready.  All the kids are thrilled to see them!
