Everyone who comes to this part of the world has to experience the desert and sand dunes. The only day available to us while Tracy and Hailey were here started out super hazy/foggy. Not exactly the kind of weather to venture into sand dunes when you can't see 25 yards ahead of your car. We drove to the entrance of the desert (which is right alongside the Arabian Gulf) and decided to wait out the fog and cookout on the beach.
Finally the sun began to burn off the fog...
Time to drive into the dunes!!! We arrived at the top of the huge dune that we always drive down and Tracy said, "no way are we driving down that!" It is impossible to capture the steepness of this dune without actually standing at the top.
We went with a family who drove a 4 wheel drive Suzuki out there. Poor things, they got stuck multiple times including this one at the very top of the dune. Here several Qatari men came to help push them over the edge and down the dune.
Hailey had so been looking forward to driving in the desert and we made sure she had her chance. She was a great driver and had so much fun!
The beauty of the Inland Sea is amazing every time we see it!
Our friends had two sleds that they brought over from England. They were perfect for sledding down the dunes! Chase and their son, Guy, had so much fun doing this all afternoon!
Right next to where we had set up our stuff, a man emerged from the water all suited up in scuba gear with a spear gun and some fish! It was so weird to see him just come up out of the water out of nowhere!!
