Bobby saw the funniest thing the other day while driving down the traffic filled streets of Doha. Check out the picture to see for yourself! FOUR camels loaded into the back of a little Nissan pickup truck! Only in the middle east would you see something that funny/crazy!
Chase had a bad encounter at school 2 days ago. There is a boy in his class who was friends with Chase but now for some reason doesn't seem to like him. He has been telling him everyday "you aren't my friend" and doesn't want one of the other boys to play with Chase either. Overall, Chase hadn't seemed that bothered by this, just complained about it once or twice. He has plenty of other friends in the class so I told him just to ignore it, no big deal. On the playground 2 days ago, this same boy pushed Chase to the ground, lifted him up by his shirt, and slammed him face first into the wall. Chase tried to walk away but the boy grabbed him by the shirt again and turned him around and kneed Chase in the chin. Chase ended up biting his tongue pretty badly but was otherwise not hurt. When Chase came to tell the teacher, he only showed her his tongue and told her who hurt him. He didn't give her the details. The teacher spoke with the boy and made him sit out the rest of recess. When Chase came home and relayed what happened in detail with me, I sent an email to the teacher. She forwarded it on to the principal and the boy and his father were called in for a conference. The boy is now on a behavior management program and he apologized to Chase the next day. This is the first time any of our kids have been "bullied" and it was not fun for me/Bobby. Chase really didn't even seem that bothered by any of it (except his tongue bothering him a little) but I wanted to make sure it didn't happen again. It is hard to believe a 7 year old boy treating another kid this way...... All is well now.
I forgot to mention in the last post that we are so proud of both Chase and Natalie. They both received a star student award in front of the entire school last Thursday. It is kind of like the student of the week at Hidden Oak except only 2 kids from each grade level received one. What an honor for both of them. Bobby and I are so proud of them. Avery continues to love school as well!

ReplyDeleteMaybe playing with the older and bigger kids most of his life helped him deal with this bully, needless to say I am happy the school jumped on this fast and hard.
