Happy Thanksgiving!

While we were sad to not get to spend Thanksgiving in the United States with all our family and friends, were decided to bring a little Thanksgiving to Doha!

Thanksgiving day was a work and school day here and it was really weird that no one even really mentions the holiday here, even at the school.  We decided to cook on Thanksgiving day, but serve the big dinner on Friday since all our friends and their kids are off all day on Friday.

Dad and I spent Thanksgiving day making pumpkin pies, cornbread for dressing, broccoli cheese casserole, and Natalie made her chocolate chip pie.

Making pie crusts!

None of our friends here have ever had a Thanksgiving dinner nor did they even know why we celebrate it.  We invited 3 families from England, one from Holland, one from Denmark/Iceland, one from Lebanon, and a couple of Crom folks over for a true Thanksgiving meal.  I was able to get a friend to make the green beans casserole, sweet potato casserole, and mashed potatoes by giving her the recipes which was a HUGE help.

We even were able to find some Thanksgiving decorations here
Bobby had all the kids line up shortest to tallest before we ate for a picture (except Natalie and Annie who were outside feeding a stray cat.....)

Natalie had too much pie!
Charlie and Chase had too much Diet Coke!

Avery had a blast playing outside with her friends

Clean up time -- left that to Bobby and Ken

Post turkey nap......

We had a fantastic time teaching some folks from around the world about Thanksgiving and what a fun holiday it can be.  We are so thankful to have made such good friends so quickly here in Doha!
