Moving In

We finally got to move in to our villa yesterday. We convinced them to let us move in 2 weeks early. That was a good thing to get us out of the apartment and into the compound so the kids can meet other kids and play outside. The bad part is that the villa isn't really up to par yet. More details to follow.

We were so lucky to have 8 Crom guys here and available to help us since the job doesn't start for another 2 weeks. They all showed up at the apartment on Friday morning with their suitcases since we don't have boxes and within 30 minutes the whole place was packed up and moved over to the villa. Of course we don't have all that much stuff but it was still a huge help. It all is stacked up in the foyer.

Once we arrived, we tried out the dishwasher to wash all the dishes, glasses, silverware we bought. Water leaked all over the kitchen floor. Bummer. We started up the old school washing machine and water leaked all over that floor, too. And it doesn't get any dirt out of clothes Looks like we are putting in a request for new appliances. :). The good news is there is a drain in the floor of all the bathrooms and the kitchen so we can push the water out. Bobby leaned on the TV stand to hook up a DVD player and it broke under him. Ha!! We managed to catch the TV though.

Because we moved in early, the furniture they ordered for us isn't here yet. We are dealing with the old stuff for 2 more weeks. We have a mosque close by so now we can hear the call to prayer a few times a day. Hopefully it won't wake us up at dawn.

Tonight we found a Florida looking lizard on the wall. It reminded me of home because I have barely seen any living animals here. Here is a photo of the lizard and of Bobby deftly trapping it in a trash can and tossing it out the window.

  2. The lizard looks like a gecko of some sort. You will probably have others visiting in the future as they like being around and inside houses. Sorry about the appliances and leaks! You will get it fixed and settled before long.
